Pokémon TCG Pokét: The Trading System Needs a Major Overhaul – Here's What We Hope to See
Hello, gamers and Pokémon fans! Today, let's talk about something that's been causing frustration in the Pokémon TCG Pokét community—its trading system. If you’ve been playing the game, you’ve probably noticed the restrictions and limitations surrounding the feature. Well, there’s some good news coming from the official Pokémon TCG Pokét account!
They recently posted an update on their X (Twitter) account, stating that they’re aware of the issues surrounding the trading feature and are investigating ways to improve it. As someone who’s been an active member of the community, I can tell you that this news is a breath of fresh air for many of us who have expressed dissatisfaction with how trading works in the game.
The Problems with the Current Trading System
Let’s break down the main issues players have been facing:
Stamina System: To initiate a trade, you need stamina. The catch? Stamina is limited, and you either need to wait hours for it to replenish or spend real money to buy the in-game currency (Gold) to purchase stamina. This puts a heavy barrier on free-to-play players who just want to trade their cards without having to pay.
Trade Tokens and Restrictions: On top of stamina, you also need trade tokens. However, obtaining these tokens is far from easy. To earn trade tokens, you have to trade away three-star cards or rare duplicates, but you only get a small amount of tokens per trade. The system encourages players to spend money and grind for hours to make meaningful trades, leaving many without the ability to freely trade unless they’re heavily invested in the game.
Limited Trading Opportunities: Currently, players can only have one active trade at a time. This restriction makes the process slow and frustrating, as players are unable to engage in multiple trades simultaneously. Plus, there’s no way to see your friends’ cards directly to request specific trades. This makes the experience less enjoyable for those who just want to swap their Pokémon cards with friends easily.
What We Hope Pokémon TCG Pokét Will Do
With Pokémon Company acknowledging the problems and promising to look into solutions, here’s what we hope to see:
An Overhaul of the Stamina and Token System: Ideally, they could lower the dependence on stamina and trade tokens, allowing more casual players to trade freely without feeling forced to spend money. If they do introduce events to earn tokens, they need to make sure it’s not a band-aid fix, but rather a step toward improving the system itself.
Allow Multiple Active Trades at Once: It would be great if the game allowed you to keep more than one trade open at the same time. This would make it easier to work on several trades at once with friends or other players, speeding up the process.
Card Visibility in Trades: Another feature that would greatly improve the trading experience is the ability to see your friends’ card collection directly. This way, players can ask for specific cards and trade more strategically, rather than having to ask for cards blindly and hope the other player has what they need.
The Good News – Pokémon Company Is Listening!
In response to the backlash, Pokémon Company is taking steps to improve the situation. As a temporary fix, they’ve gifted every player 1,000 trade tokens, which will help players make a few more trades while the team continues to investigate the issue. However, we all know that it’s not just the token amount that’s the problem—it’s the overall trading system itself that needs a major upgrade.
So, while we wait for Pokémon TCG Pokét to fix the system, let’s hope they don’t fall into the trap of adding "event-based" fixes that just give us more tokens or stamina. The solution lies in revamping the trading system to make it smoother, more accessible, and more fun for everyone—whether you're a paying player or enjoying the game for free.
Conclusion
In the world of online games, especially those that rely on microtransactions, it’s rare for companies to admit when their system isn’t working and commit to improving it. That’s why Pokémon’s response to the community’s complaints is such a positive step. We can only hope they continue to listen to player feedback and take the right steps to fix the trading system once and for all. Stay tuned for more updates!
