Pokémon Legends: Z-A – New Combat, Starters, and Mega Evolutions Revealed for 2025!
Hello gamers and Pokémon fans! A few days ago, we got an exciting new look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which will be launching later this year, in 2025. While we don’t have a specific month yet, we can expect it to release sometime between September and November, as many Pokémon games have historically dropped in that window.
A New Era of Combat
From what we’ve seen in the trailer, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will have a combat system similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but with some exciting new additions. The combat feels more active—players can make their Pokémon dodge incoming attacks and use moves like Protect at the right moment to defend, closely mirroring the type of battles we see in the anime series. This new active battle style brings a fresh level of intensity to the gameplay.
A New Adventure in Lumiose City
The game will take place in Lumiose City, one of the largest areas in the Kalos region, so we can expect to encounter a variety of Pokémon from that region. Lumiose City itself looks stunning, and it seems there will be a lot to explore.
The Starter Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile
The three starters for this game are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. As a long-time Pokémon fan, I’m excited about all three. I used Tepig in Pokémon Black and White, Chikorita in Pokémon Silver on the Game Boy Color, and Totodile in Pokémon Gold (the DS rerelease). It’s incredible to see these classic starters making a return.
Mega Evolution is Back!
The trailer brought some exciting news—Mega Evolution is back! We can assume the three starters will have Mega Evolutions, and I’m really curious to see what these will look like. Some fans are speculating that Chikorita’s Mega Evolution might be a Fairy-type, based on a scene in the trailer where Chikorita uses Disarming Voice, a Fairy-type move. Could Chikorita’s type change upon evolution, or could it be a new type in the Mega Evolution form? Only time will tell, but I’m eagerly awaiting the official reveal.
City Exploration and New Features
From the trailer, it looks like Lumiose City will be divided into zones, including a "Wild Zone" where wild Pokémon can be found and captured. There’s also a cool new feature where the protagonist can climb buildings, and in one clip, we even see them jump between buildings with a significant gap—seemingly with the help of the Rotom Phone (though it’s hard to say for sure). It’s an exciting addition that shows how the game is pushing boundaries when it comes to exploration!
