Exciting Announcements from PlayStation State of Play – February 2025

Hello, gamers! The much-anticipated PlayStation State of Play has finally wrapped up, and I know many of you were hoping for a Bloodborne remake, remaster, or even a Bloodborne 2 announcement. Unfortunately, those hopes didn't come to fruition this time. However, the event still delivered some fantastic news that’s sure to get any gamer excited. Let's dive into a few of the big announcements from today’s showcase.

1. Monster Hunter Wilds

The legendary Monster Hunter series is back with Monster Hunter Wilds. This new title introduces multiplayer features and tons of new monsters to hunt, including a terrifying, monkey-like creature. The game will be available on PS5 soon, with a free update coming in Spring 2025, featuring the Mizutsune. Fans of the series won’t want to miss this one!

2. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

Sega has brought us Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, a side-scrolling ninja adventure that’s being developed by the creators of Streets of Rage 4. The game features stunning illustrated graphics and epic boss battles. No specific release date was announced.

3. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds

What I’m Personally Looking Forward To

As for me, there are several games that caught my eye. Monster Hunter Wilds, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Lost Soul Aside, Lies of P Overture DLC, Tides of Annihilation, Saros, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are definitely on my radar. Some of these are driven by nostalgia, especially Metal Gear Solid and Onimusha, while others appeal to my love of combat and fantasy elements, or apocalyptic settings.

However, what really took me by surprise was Tides of Annihilation and Saros. I'm truly excited about these two—Saros in particular, considering the pedigree of Returnal and its gripping gameplay. These announcements got me hyped in a way that made the entire State of Play feel worthwhile.

Overall, it was a solid event, but not the best. If I had to rate it, I’d give it an 8/10. I was originally leaning toward a 7/10, but after Saros was revealed and knowing how good Returnal was, I bumped it up to an 8. A big part of that is how unexpected Saros was—it genuinely got me excited and hyped, and that's exactly the kind of reaction you want when a new game is announced.
